Cornered and trapped lost in someone else’s desire
Prolixity my only companion in this game
Unable to fully commit to the situation
Because it all seems so juvenile and silly.
Where does it read that you must be this way?
In what ancient discourse are the rules for this set?
The act of one following the way of the herd
Is, I think, the most likely reason for it.
To break free of those rules and step into yourself
Is a dangerous and unpopular standard
And it all boils down to the "so long ago"
When the power hungry got all the control
With their clout and their might they took over our lives
And we live by their standards
And wear their disguises
